About American Studio Orchestra
An Entire Palette
Artistic Director Larry Williams founded ASO in 2008. Williams' interest in multimedia and interactive concert presentation began when he was a student at The Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore. Throughout his career as a horn player, he sought out opportunities to collaborate with the most creative artists that he could find, which led him to perform classical, jazz, pop, and other musical genres.
A New Model
These collaborative partnerships eventually evolved into several multimedia performance ensembles including The Parallel Collective and Tabla, multimedia ensembles that featured live music, recorded accompaniment, and digital video. In 2008 Williams partnered with renowned saxophonist Gary Thomas, The Lyric Brass Quintet, composers James Schroeder and Jacob Yoffee, Wrightway Studios owner Steve Wright.
Art in Real Time
An orchestra capable of performing all styles of music incorporating a wide range of media to enhance each performance was created. ASO records soundtracks, television and radio projects, and other ongoing creative endeavors as resident orchestra of Wrightway Recording Studios in Baltimore.
